Enjoy three days exploring the beautiful Ammassalik District in East Greenland. The highlights of this tour include helicopter rides with majestic views over granite mountains, glaciers and icebergs, and a stay in the village of Tasiilaq which by many is considered one of Greenland’s most scenic villages. Locally, there are exciting excursions available such as iceberg cruises, guided walks and helicopter rides. Tasiilaq, is a village of about 1,400 residents, making it the largest village in East Greenland. Ammassalik is only a 10-minute helicopter ride from Kulusuk, but this short flight is one of the most spectacular expeditions imaginable, as you cross the ice-filled sea separating these two mountainous islands. The village of Tasiilaq lies just south of the Arctic Circle and boasts long hours of daylight in the summer.
Day 1: Welcome to Greenland
Depart from Reykjavik Domestic Airport for a short flight to Kulusuk in Greenland, where upon arrival you will enjoy a scenic ten-minute helicopter flight to Tasiilaq, enjoying panoramic views over the fjords and glaciers along the way. You are then welcomed by a hotel representative who will take you to your accommodation, where you can relax and enjoy a Greenlandic dinner.
Day 2: Tasiilaq Tranquillity
Enjoy the serenity of Tasiilaq, a cosy village with pristine natural surroundings nestled on the Tasiilaq Fjord. This is a great starting point for an array of exciting optional activities including iceberg boat tour, or a helicopter flight up to Mittivakkat glacier. You can also enjoy hiking in the valley of flowers, explore the village and even purchase some of the well-known traditional Greenlandic art.
Note: outdoor activities are dependent on local weather - & ice conditions and thus can only be booked locally.
Day 3: Kulusuk & departure
Today, your Arctic getaway draws to a close. It’s time to take a return helicopter flight to the Kulusuk. On the return flight to Reykjavík, enjoy more magnificent views over the Ammassalik area with its huge glaciers and floating icebergs.
