Introduction
West Greenland is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before with its incredible landscapes, rich heritage, friendly locals, and unique wildlife. This tour takes you from colourful towns and villages to untamed wilderness, with plenty of exciting optional activities in between. Come and get a taste of the local culture in Nuuk, the world’s smallest capital city, and get up close and personal with natural wonders, such as the ice-choked Ilulissat Icefjord, all while enjoying the midnight sun!
Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Nuuk
Fly from Reykjavik Domestic Airport in Iceland You will arrive in Nuuk, the friendly capital city of Greenland. After settling in at your hotel in the late afternoon, spend the rest of the day exploring your new surroundings, such as the old city centre by the harbour.
Day 2 & 3: Free Time in the Capital
The next two days are free for you to explore Nuuk as you wish.
Culture buffs can easily spend a few hours at the National Museum, which houses a large collection of Greenlandic relics, such as kayaks, umiaks and ceremonial costumes along with special exhibitions. More modern culture in the forms of theatre, music and art can be experienced at the Katuaq cultural centre—also a great place to enjoy a coffee break— while both traditional and contemporary artworks can be viewed at the Nuuk Art Museum. 
And since much of Greenland’s culture is rooted in nature, why not take a small break from the city? You can enjoy a whale-watching tour in the fjord, a guided mountain hike around “Little Malene” or even a helicopter trip over the Inland Ice Cap! Excursions like these and many others can be booked locally during your stay in Nuuk or in advance with your travel consultant.
Day 4: Icebergs under the Midnight Sun
After your morning flight to Ilulissat, you will be transferred to the hotel where you will spend the next three nights. Once you’ve settled in, you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon as you wish. Later in the evening, you will set sail for a midnight cruise through the majestic Ilulissat Icefjord, which awes visitors with its maze of giant icebergs illuminated by the midnight sun.
Day 5 & 6: Freedom to Explore Ilulissat
For the next two days, the sky is the limit! You can choose from an array of exciting optional excursions in the Ilulissat area, all of which can be booked locally at your accommodation.
Imagine sailing among icebergs illuminated by the midnight sun or other awe-inspiring optional experiences, including helicopter rides over immense icebergs, motorboat tours among giant pieces of calved ice from the Eqi glacier, cultural demonstrations and village walks, whale-watching safaris, or excursions to remote settlements in the area.
As for hiking enthusiasts, the tranquil Sermermiut Valley just a few kilometres from Ilulissat offers spectacular views from a number of marked trails.
Day 7: Goodbye Greenland
When the time has come to say farewell to this magnificent land, you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport in time for your departure flight. If your flight is in the afternoon, you can squeeze in some last-minute souvenir shopping or a short optional excursion in the morning.

We have two categories for accommodation on this tour: Comfort and Quality.
Comfort
 | Standard rooms with private shower and WC, TV, hairdryer, telephone, armchair seating area, and coffee or tea making facilities at hotels or well-appointed guesthouses. All provide breakfast (included in the price) and most have on-site restaurants. |
Quality
 | Well-appointed superior or deluxe rooms at 4-star hotels, including Hotel Narsarsuaq (Narsarsuaq), Hotel Hans Egede (Nuuk), and Hotel Arctic (Ilulissat). • Advanced booking of at least four weeks prior to departure is recommended due to the limited availability of airfare and accommodation in summer. Booking early allows us to better accommodate your desired arrangements.
• This tour can be customized to meet your needs, including additional nights in Reykjavik and/or Greenland on request. We can also arrange accommodation in Reykjavik or combine other Iceland packages with this tour.
Other
• This tour originates in Iceland. Due to flight times between Iceland and Greenland, passengers may need to spend a night before departure and/or a night upon return in Reykjavik.
• We recommend booking at least three weeks in advance.
• Travel insurance is highly recommended.
