Paamiut past and present
Archaeological finds indicate that the area has been inhabited at different times since 1500 B.C. The town's name means "they who reside by the mouth" and was founded in 1742, at the mouth of the Kuannersooq fjord. Paamiut's old town is an idyllic area with its picturesque buildings. Here you can see, for example, the old shop, the colonial administration building, a goat barn and the church.
